Position Overview


Our client is seeking a Director of Mechanical Engineering to lead their engineering team, oversee project execution, and drive the firm’s technical excellence in healthcare facility design. This senior leadership role requires deep expertise in mechanical engineering, strong project management skills, and a proven track record of working with healthcare systems, regulatory compliance, and sustainable building solutions.


Key Responsibilities


  • Leadership & Strategy: Lead the mechanical engineering department, setting vision, strategy, and performance benchmarks for healthcare facility projects.
  • Project Oversight: Oversee the design and execution of HVAC, plumbing, medical gas, and fire protection systems for hospitals, clinics, and laboratories.
  • Compliance & Regulations: Ensure all designs adhere to industry regulations, including ASHRAE, NFPA, FGI Guidelines, and local building codes.
  • Client Engagement: Collaborate with healthcare administrators, architects, and construction teams to deliver tailored engineering solutions.
  • Sustainability & Innovation: Implement energy-efficient and sustainable solutions in medical facility design.
  • Team Development: Mentor and develop engineering staff, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Quality Assurance: Conduct reviews and approvals of engineering designs, reports, and project deliverables to ensure the highest standards.
  • Budget & Resource Management: Develop budgets, allocate resources, and ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.


Qualifications & Experience


  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Licenses & Certifications: Professional Engineer (PE) license required. LEED certification is a plus.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum 10-15 years of experience in mechanical engineering, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
    • Extensive experience in healthcare facility design (hospitals, surgery centers, medical offices, laboratories).
    • Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and medical gas systems specific to healthcare environments.
    • Familiarity with ASHRAE 170, NFPA 99, and other healthcare design standards.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and other engineering design software.
    • Strong understanding of energy modeling, sustainability practices, and mechanical system optimization.
    • Expertise in project management and contract administration.

Vice President of Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS)

Position Overview


As the Vice President of Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS), you will serve as the top executive responsible for developing, leading, and executing the company’s EHS strategy across all business units. This role requires a visionary leader with deep expertise in environmental compliance, occupational health, workplace safety, and risk mitigation within engineering, infrastructure, and industrial markets. Reporting to the COO or Executive Leadership Team, the VP of EHS will drive company-wide EHS initiatives, ensure regulatory compliance, and integrate safety into business operations while meeting private equity performance expectations.


Key Responsibilities


  • Strategic EHS Leadership: Develop and implement a comprehensive EHS strategy aligned with corporate goals, private equity expectations, and industry best practices.
  • Enterprise-Wide Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, NFPA, and other relevant regulations across all operations and project sites.
  • Executive Collaboration: Serve as a key advisor to the C-Suite, board members, and private equity stakeholders on EHS risks, opportunities, and performance metrics.
  • Culture & Training: Drive a proactive safety culture, leading company-wide training, development programs, and engagement strategies for employees at all levels.
  • Incident Prevention & Crisis Management: Oversee enterprise risk assessments, incident investigations, root cause analyses, and emergency preparedness planning.
  • Sustainability & Environmental Stewardship: Spearhead company-wide sustainability initiatives, including carbon footprint reduction, environmental compliance, and green building practices.
  • Data-Driven Decision-Making: Develop and monitor EHS performance KPIs, safety audits, and compliance tracking systems to improve operational excellence.
  • Private Equity & Investor Reporting: Establish and present EHS reports, risk mitigation strategies, and compliance roadmaps to private equity partners and executive leadership.
  • Multi-Sector Oversight: Ensure EHS policies and procedures support operations in power & energy, transportation, development, government, and industrial markets.


Qualifications & Experience


  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Certifications: CSP (Certified Safety Professional), CIH (Certified Industrial Hygienist), or CHMM (Certified Hazardous Materials Manager) strongly preferred.
  • Experience:
    • 15+ years of progressive EHS leadership experience, with at least 5-7 years in an executive-level (VP, SVP, or similar) role.
    • Strong background in EHS for engineering, power & energy, transportation, development, government, and industrial projects.
    • Demonstrated experience in private equity-backed companies, with an understanding of investor-driven performance metrics.
    • Expertise in federal, state, and local EHS regulations, including OSHA, EPA, DOT, and NFPA standards.
  • Technical & Industry Knowledge:
    • Extensive experience with EHS management systems (ISO 45001, ISO 14001, etc.).
    • Strong knowledge of construction safety, hazardous materials management, environmental permitting, and sustainability programs.
    • Proven ability to lead EHS audits, compliance reporting, and risk assessments.

  • Strong executive presence with the ability to engage, influence, and negotiate at the C-suite and board level.
  • Expertise in change management, mergers & acquisitions (M&A) integration, and EHS due diligence.

  • Experience managing large-scale infrastructure, energy, or industrial projects from an EHS perspective.
